The purpose of this position is to plan and provide women's health care with emphasis on the reproductive cycle including management of intrapartum period for normal and high risk mothers; provide health care for newborns; educate, counsel, and advise patients on all aspects of the reproductive cycle and related psychosocial issues; educate, counsel, and advise other health care professionals; and participate in research, and nursing/medical standards and protocol developments.Requirements:

In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
Experience: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-11: Perform well women exams, assess patients and deliveries of newborns. Provide primary health care to the community with emphasis on reproductive health, primary management of antepartum, postpartum, gynecology, family planning and STD/HIV care in a health care setting and provide education. Recognize and promptly respond to obstetric complications and emergencies; Manage routine low risk pregnant patients and take direction in a close professional relationship with consulting Obstetrician in the management of high risk pregnant patients.
GS-12: In addition to the above specialized experience; triage patients, assess and provide a treatment plan; Document patient's care in an electronic health record; Perform complete well women, maternity (OB/GYN), and new born assessments; Provide full spectrum midwifery services to outpatient and inpatient. Manage the care of women during the prenatal, intra-partum and post-partum period, provide family planning, gynecological care, counseling, health education and preventive services.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
