About the Position:
These are full time, part time and intermittent temporary civilian faculty positions at the U.S. Army War College (USAWC) as provided under Title 10 USC 4021. Initial appointment may be up to one year.

The person(s) selected for this/these position(s) will have a leading role in teaching core and elective courses of the Department of Military Strategy, Planning and Operations and its associated programs.

To qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be rated based on the criteria listed below by a panel of subject matter experts appointed with the purpose of identifying the best-qualified candidates.

1. Must have an established record of superlative teaching in subject matter related to military strategy, joint warfighting, military history, or campaign design at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Experience as a teaching assistant and as the instructor of record meets this requirement. Experience at the Senior Service College level is preferred.

2. Ability to conceptualize, design, and prepare lesson plans for others to teach; facilitate seminar dialogue; lecture; guide student research; and assess student performance on subjects related to the topics listed above. Familiarity with military strategy, campaign design, planning, and operations can come from extensive experience as a practitioner or as a teacher of those subjects.

3. Ability to design and deliver curriculum using a variety of in-person and virtual experiential learning techniques to include seminar dialog, discussion forums, staff rides, group activities, war games, debates, and simulations.

4. Refined oral and written communication skills, including the ability to serve as a faculty advisor for students' written research projects.

5. Must have master's degree (required), or higher, in national security studies or strategic studies, or related field.

6. Demonstrated effectiveness in sharing expertise and developing faculty colleagues to improve the organization.
