Description:

This position serves as Pediatric Dental Officer and provides services to the Native American patients and to function as a pediatric dental consultant for the Great Plains Area IHS Dental Program at the Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Health Care Center in Sisseton, South Dakota. The incumbent reports to the Chief Dental Officer.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to the above Basic Requirements for the GS-13 (or equivalent) level, applicants must complete a 3 year residency program. Approved Internship/Approved Residency: Training in a hospital dental internship or residency approved by the Council on Dental Education of the ADA.

OR

3-year dentistry experience and/or training. This experience is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples include: comprehensive dental treatment to children under age 18, make clinical and radiographic examinations, diagnose pathological and irregular conditions, maintain patient records, perform endodontic, prosthodontic, operative and/or preventative orthodontic services, perform simple, compound, or complex restorations, administer local anesthesia and/or nitrous oxide; determine types of services required, develop treatment plans, perform tooth extractions, inform patient about preventative dental care.

Time In Grade (Merit Promotion Candidates Only)
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
