Requirements:

This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: You must currently be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Your license or registration must be held in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Please provide a current copy along with your resume application. A copy of a wall certificate that does not have an expiration date will not serve to verify this requirement.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing engineering practices, theory, techniques, and equipment to solve problems with commercial/industrial HVAC systems; including reviewing HVAC designs and specifications for completeness, functionality, sound engineering practice, and compliance with applicable codes and criteria, in order to recommend needed changes; 2) Providing guidance on HVAC Planned Maintenance (PM) to the Public Works Departments and assist them in maintaining and/or improving their PM Programs; 3) Coordinating with leadership on all matters related to HVAC control systems, and ensure guidance and funding is in place for operation, maintenance and expansion of control systems within the command; 4) Overseeing the execution of comprehensive Retro-Commissioning programs; including management of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of engineers and technicians; and 5) Coordinating efforts to reduce facility energy consumption as it relates to HVAC, leveraging technology to maximize efficiency, to include diagnosing Direct Digital Control issues.
