Requirements:

This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: To possess a United States Coast Guard 4000 HP Designated Duty Engineer License. Do you meet this requirement? This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Marine Operating Engineer Mechanic without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by: 1) Applying knowledge of the safe and proper operation of tug boat engineering systems, including Caterpillar 3500 series main propulsion engines, Schottel azimuth stern drives, 120kw John Deere generators and switchboards, JohRie HPU, winch, and capstan, in addition to other auxiliary equipment onboard tugboats; 2) Directing marine technicians or contractors in performing maintenance and repairs on engines, propulsion systems, auxiliary generators, pumps, compressors, and firefighting equipment; 3) Collaborating and coordinating with shore support personnel regarding scheduled maintenance, yard availabilities and dry docking periods while overseeing the troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and installation of equipment of various marine crafts; and 4) Displaying knowledge of planned maintenance programs similar to the Navy 3M systems for preventative vessel measures.
