About the Position: Serves as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist and principal technical advisor to the ERDC Safety and Occupational Health Manager for the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) at Vicksburg, MS. This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DJ-03. This position will be filled at the DJ-03 (11/12) full performance pay band.
To qualify at the DJ-03 grade level or equivalency, your resume must describe experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the DJ-02 (GS-09) grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) managing safety or occupational health program elements; 2) developing or implementing programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses; and 3) citing and explaining violations of safety and occupational health provisions.
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
