Requirements:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing mechanical, structural, and electrical/electronic engineering principles as they apply to weight handling and mobile equipment design, operation, maintenance and repair; 2) Ability to read, analyze, evaluate, and interpret a full range of technical data (e.g. engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, manufacturer's catalogs, etc.); 3) Planning and assigning work accomplished by subordinates, setting priorities, and preparing work completion schedules; 4) Giving advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters and identifying and providing developmental training.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Physical Demands:
The work requires various degrees of physical exertion, including considerable walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, lifting, positioning of equipment, standing for extended periods, climbing on equipment or on ladders, carrying of equipment not to exceed 40 pounds. Climbing and working from significant heights to inspect and maintain all components of lifting equipment is required.

Work Environment:
Majority of work is performed in various unconditioned industrial settings, including maintenance shops, warehouses and other Navy owned facilities. The locations may include tight spaces, greasy areas, noisy and dimly lit machinery rooms, and other uncomfortable work environments. The incumbent is required to work in open spaces under varying temperatures and weather conditions. Incumbent is exposed to various hazards especially when working in noisy machinery rooms, near rotating machinery, overhead at significant heights, unstable footing, and adverse weather conditions. The incumbent is required to wear various types of personal protection equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats, steel-toed shoes, fall protection gear, ear muffs, coveralls, and respirators as work environment dictates.
