Requirements:

You will serve as an IT Specialist within the Space Science Division, Code 760200 of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY

This position has a Selective Placement Factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The Selective Placement Factor is: This position requires CompTIA Security+ certification and demonstrated proficiency in configuration for Microsoft Windows OS, Macintosh, and Linux based systems, the implementation of DoD compliant IT systems, knowledge of implementing a broad range of IT software packages, and demonstrated capability to independently manage the IT support infrastructure for large and heterogeneous IT systems.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05/10 grade level or NO-02 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate all or most of the following: 1) Knowledge of IT systems computer operations, functions and capabilities including ability to develop comprehensive policies, procedures and techniques to carry out and manage professional, in-depth IT systems evaluations and make recommendations as to the posture of all relevant information systems and networks; 2) Knowledge of Federal, DoD and NRL Information Assurance regulations, policies and standards; 3) Knowledge of diverse and broad based information systems principles, practices, procedures, requirements, techniques and applicable laws for identifying and protecting information and materials from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, espionage, sabotage or loss; 4) Ability to provide effective IT solutions by using critical thinking skills and troubleshooting methodology; AND 5) Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

In addition to the specialized experience above, your resume must also reflect IT related experience demonstrating the following four competencies:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
