Description:
This position is located in the Business Office, Red Lake Hospital, Red Lake, MN. The primary function of this position, perform ICD-10-CM and CPT coding for reimbursement. The coding function provides the primary source for data and information used in health care, promotes continuity of medical care, and ensures compliance with third party reimbursement policies, regulations and accreditation guidelines. The incumbent reports to the Supervisory Medical Records Technician.Requirements:

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-05, Medical Records Technician - one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: Experience with routine problems of limited complexity such as compiling, recording, and reviewing medical records data, preparing new charts, and following well-established medical records procedures.
GS-06, Medical Records Technician - one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: Able to maneuver the RPMS/EHR system. Computer skills, able to communicate with all staff. At least 1 year of ICD-10 coding and data entry skill.
GS-07, Medical Records Technician - one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: Able to maneuver the RPMS/EHR system. Computer skills, able to communicate with all staff. Knowledge of the Privacy Act of 1974/HIPAA compliance. Knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology. At least 2 plus years of ICD-10 & CPT years of coding & Data Entry skills.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
