The closing date has been extended to 4/3/2024.The purpose of this position is to perform secretarial functions that include (1) Ambulatory Care Administrative Office support services and (2) Primary Care and Medicine clinical support services for the Primary Care and Medical Department of the Coatesville VA Medical Center. The incumbent operates independently of other office positions, promoting and improving the efficiency of the Ambulatory Care/Primary Care.
Requirements:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/03/2024.GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Extensive knowledge and understanding of operations, directives, program goals and regulations governing technical and administrative activities of Ambulatory Care and Primary Care service lines and the ability to apply this knowledge to routine projects where precedence has been established; the ability to exercise personal diplomacy and flexibility considering shifting priorities when carrying out duties; an expert knowledge of a range of clerical practices and procedures, grammar, spelling, formatting, formal structures format in the preparation of correspondence, and be skilled in typing and transcription, formal meeting procedures, filing, verbal and written communications, interpersonal relations, phone procedures, and reception techniques; and able to handle a wide variety or situations and many complex office problems that cannot be brought to the attention of the supervisor; handle conflicts requiring use of initiative to determine the approach to be taken or methods to use; knowledge of the VISTA computer system in a variety of applications
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, but requires walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light packages and walking to other areas of the medical center to coordinate activities. Some lifting, bending, and carrying of light items is necessary.
