This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. You will serve as an Engineering Equipment Operator in the Production Division PWD Great Lakes, IL. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Operating various types of heavy construction type equipment where power is transmitted through complicated shifting, hydraulic and steering controls; 2) Reading specifications, sketches, and grade stakes for the fine grading of surfaces; 3) Demonstrating knowledge of the nature of soil and features of different types of terrain to determine the proper approach to be used; 4) Communicating orally, sufficient to serve as lead worker on a project and/or to interface and coordinate with contract employees; 5) Demonstrating experience serving as the "Competent Person" on excavation projects assigned; and 6) Practicing all OSHA regulations regarding trench safety, such as using trench boxes, shoring, or sloping or benching techniques.
