Health Technician

Description:

The position assists the School Health Coordinator in developing, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness and appropriateness of the Comprehensive School Health Program and health promotion disease prevention activities for communities and schools serviced by the Service Unit. Positions report to the Health Promotion Coordinator within the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Program of the Gallup Service Unit, Gallup, NM.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Development of school health programs and curricula related to health problems and disease prevention, current health issues, health status, and teacher training needs. Evaluation of physical activity programs and fitness testing. Knowledge of public health concepts. Effectively interact with a schools, teachers, and community members in coordinating Sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids (SPARK) or similar programs. Collecting patient demographics. Use of computers, software applications, and database., or One full year of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirement for GS-7. Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
