Requirements:

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:

Basic Requirements:

A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

OR

3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, Ph.D., Phar.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree.

AND

Licensure: Applicants also must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

All qualified referred candidates will undergo a credentialing process prior to employment with the Bureau of Prisons. This process includes validation of examinations, licensure, education, internship and residency. There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.

Experience:

You must have at least one year of professional pharmacy experience. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must be in or related to the position to be filled. Pharmacy work requires knowledge of the use, clinical effects, and composition of medications, including their chemical, biological, and physical properties

Some examples of experience are:

Experience in planning and providing a completely integrated pharmacy program and coordinating these programs with all other departments within the institution. Experience in determining that all medications are properly packaged and labeled. Experience in dispensing pharmaceuticals in accordance with proper procedures.

Medical Requirement:

Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid work experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (week) spent in the activities.
