Description:
Plans, accomplishes and maintains the Integrated Pest Management program at the Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC), Environmental Management Service Line (EMSL). Must be a licensed pest controller. Determines appropriate pest control measure and works independently with a wide variety of pest control measures. Applies insecticides and pesticides using a pressure type hand sprayer in a light or course spray, an electrical fogger or duster depending on the area to be treated.Requirements:

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The Incumbent often lift and handle heavy materials and carry heavy solutions and equipment for extended periods. Works in cramped and inconvenient surroundings for prolonged periods; have to maintain uncomfortable position for extended period; and move furniture and equipment. May involve standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and walking. Handling nd use of pesticides and chemicals. Signage installation requires dexterity. The incumbent may be required to move furniture, equipment, ect., as part of the treatment process.
