Description:

This position is located in the Office of the Inspector General, Investigations Division.

The supervisor is the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations.

This position is non-bargaining unit.

This position is subject to NRC security ownership restrictions and Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting and requirements.

Salary includes 25% law enforcement availability pay.

Requirements:

In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience providing supervisory, managerial, technical, and administrative oversight for an investigations program or activities in an Office of Inspector General (OIG) or comparable investigations program, office, or agency, which contributed to the successful detection of fraud, waste, and abuse in an organization's or agency's programs, operations, and/or activities. In addition, candidates for this position must possess at least one year of federal supervisory experience to be eligible for this position.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

1. Extensive knowledge of Federal criminal laws and investigative techniques and procedures in order to conduct and oversee professional investigations of violations of those laws or regulations with the jurisdictions of an OIG or comparable organization.

2. Expert management skills resulting from a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience overseeing federal law enforcement agents and including the ability to direct assignments, assess and manage performance, collaborate with subordinates on goal setting and work planning, and support professional development for all levels of personnel.

3. Superior interpersonal and communications skills including the ability to interview, negotiate, and brief senior officials and executive personnel at all levels within and outside the organization, and the ability to write and edit detailed law enforcement reports.

4. Superior analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to think strategically and identify investigations programmatic needs and requirements in order to carry out a successful execution of the organization's mission, programs, and projects.

5. Ability to operate with a considerable degree of objectivity and independence.

NOTE: If selected for an interview, you may be asked to provide a writing sample in essay form along with an attestation as to its authorship. Additionally, during your interview, you may be required to respond verbally to hypothetical scenarios that reflect real-world issues, problems, and taskings that the OIG SAC may face on a daily basis. Failure to provide a writing sample and/or respond to the scenarios may disqualify you from further consideration.

Candidates are subject to the maximum age of original entry into law enforcement positions with this agency, which is 37, unless they have previous service in a Federal civilian law enforcement position covered by special law enforcement retirement provisions or are a preference-eligible veteran.

If selected for this position, you will be required to carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is mandatory.
