In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below:
To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as analyzing the impact studies related to residential construction and/or renovation practices and how they improve indoor air quality; managing work assignments and/or task orders to ensure the completion of the contract activities.
To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as providing technical expertise on the impact residential construction and/or renovation practices can improve indoor air quality; conducting outreach related to improving residential buildings air quality; managing work assignments and/or task orders to ensure the completion of the contract activities.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of building science principles and ability to develop detailed technical specifications; 2) Knowledge of U.S. building codes and standard setting practices; 3) Ability to assess effectiveness of healthy homes programs; 4) Skill in oral communication; 5) Skill in written communication; 6) Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders, federal partners, and industry; 7) Skill in Project Management; 8) Skill in construction budgeting.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
