Description:

Two Vacancies will be filled.

The incumbent helps pharmacists dispense prescription medication to customers and monitor the patient data input into the automated Point-of-Sale (POS) system. Reports to a Supervisory Pharmacist.

Pharmacy Technician License and Pharmacy Technician Certification is required.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Individual Occupational Requirements: Listed below are the requirements e.g., experience or education, for a particular occupational series or positions.

Qualifying specialized experience may have been gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories. Experience must have provided a basic knowledge of:
Pharmaceutical nomenclature. Characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and the Variety of procedures and techniques involved in the care, storage, repackaging, bulk compounding, and distribution of pharmaceuticals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector. Specialized experience is that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Example of work at this level include filling prescriptions utilizing automated dispensing equipment; distributing pharmaceuticals; utilizing pharmacy-based computer systems; working with insurance claims to bill for pharmaceuticals and resolve any billing issues; and performing pharmaceutical procurement and inventory management.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:
Current and active Pharmacy Technician License by any U.S. State or Territory. And National Pharmacy Technician Certification. See the condition of employment. Selective factors are special qualifications that are in addition to the basic requirements and the additional requirements which are listed in a qualification standard, selective factors are determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of a particular position. Candidates who do not meet a selective placement factor are ineligible for further consideration. You submit provide evidence of your license at the time of application to verify that you meet the requirement.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: You may achieve Pharmacy Technician Certification within one year after entrance on duty. This condition of employment only applies to certification, you must possess a current and active Pharmacy Technician License by any U.S. State or Territory to be qualified for the position.

Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
