About the Position: The position is a Lead Data Scientist referred to in the organization as Data Steward located in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS), G8/9, Readiness Analytics Directorate, Systems Division, US Army Medical Command, Ft Sam Houston, TX. The Data Steward will develop solutions requirements to make data visible to authorized users by identifying, registering, and exposing data in a way that makes it easily discoverable across the enterprise, and to external partners.Requirements:

Basic Requirement for a Data Scientist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. ( Transcripts required at the time of application.)
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. (Transcripts required at the time of application.)
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes experience in application of mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and data and computer sciences, work experience with use of large longitudinal medical databases, statistical/analysis software platforms, analyze extremity injury data from the Military Health System's electronic health records, interface computer with military medical data elements and Military Health System's tools, data warehouses, and DataMart's. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
