Requirements:

Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:

1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Reviewing my own information technology-related work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Diagnosing application software problems in response to customer reported incidents.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Briefing senior leaders on new database technologies and architectures.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Investigate existing information technology systems to identify potential issues.
   For the GS-12: In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following:
5. Administering and maintaining the organization assessment and authorization (A&A) process using the Risk Management Framework (RMF);

Coordinating, compiling and maintaining all assessment & authorization (A&A) documentation for appropriate accreditation authorities; Evaluating, recommending, implementing, and disseminating IT security tools, procedures, and practices to protect information assets; Providing input in drafting information systems security documentation (e.g. systems security plans, risk assessments, disaster recovery plans, business continuity plans, user security guides); Writing specifications to meet IT security requirements at the applications, devices or network server level.
For the GS-11: In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: Carrying out activities leading to security certification or accreditation; Conducting integrated analysis of multiple audit logs (e.g., firewall, Web server); Participating in identifying and writing specifications to meet IT security requirements at the applications, devices or network server level; and Providing input in drafting information systems security documentation (e.g. systems security plans, risk assessments, disaster recovery plans, business continuity plans, user security guides); Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
