This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This is a Small Craft Operator XF-5786-12 position with the USACE Galveston District, Engineering and Construction Division located in Corpus Christi, TX.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Small Craft Operator ~ without more than normal supervision. At a minimum, your level of experience must show that you have: The ability to perform common operation of a boat, determining and following courses on the water, boat maintenance and make minor engine repairs and perform inspections. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT Moderate physical effort is required in operating the boat, loading and unloading equipment, making repairs and adjustments, and in the performance of miscellaneous duties. Occasionally strenuous or prolonged repeated physical effort may be required when operating in hazardous areas such as surf zones. WORKING CONDITIONS Works in all kinds of weather. Subject to dirt, grease, cuts and bruises when performing maintenance and repair work. Danger of drowning exists in event of collision with floating and submerged obstructions due to necessity of operating in hazardous areas such as near rock jetties and in shoal water. Additional hazards may be encountered in areas frequented by unlicensed private vessel operators who have little knowledge of the professional navigation rules. Night operations are occasionally required and require additional attention and extended hours.
