THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.This National Guard position is for a SELF-DIRECTED HARM PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF) (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T0031P01 and is part of the IL JS, National Guard.
Requirements:
BASIC EXPERIENCE: MUST possess one of the basic requirements for the position:Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.
OR
A combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.
OR
4- years of appropriate experience that demonstrates the acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : MUST possess specialized experience for the GS-12 Level which includes at least 1-year of experience equivalent to the next lower level of GS-11; experience, education or training analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various social science resources; must have knowledge of the organization and its mission and utilized the organizational staff procedures; experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of social science program operations carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
