Job Description
The Front Desk Representative, under general supervision, works to ensure patients have a positive first impression of the organization by ensure the check in process is completed effectively and efficiently.
Essential Skills and Functions
•Receive and direct phone calls, patients, and other visitors. Respond to routine inquiries concerning practice services, hours of operations, and general questions regarding the practice.
•Assist with patient registration duties by collecting and verifying insurance cards and photocopying/scanning appropriate documentation. Verify patient identity and demographics and enter changes into practice management system. Direct patient to appropriate waiting area.
•Schedule, confirm, and verify patient appointments. Arrange follow-up visits and referral appointments.
•Verify patient insurance information by contacting/calling the appropriate insurance carrier and/or utilizing automated insurance verification system.
•Receive, sort, and distribute mail to the appropriate department
•Scan patient documents including insurance information into the EMR system.
•De-escalate situations involving dissatisfied customers, offering patient assistance and support.
•Provide clerical support to other departments.
•Collaborate and work as a team with other departments.
•May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills
2+ years' experience in customer service or healthcare facility preferred
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Office environment
Standing, waling and/or moving up to 8 hours per day
Lifting up to 25 pounds
