This position is located at VA Madison, WI in the ESS Laundry Service, the primary purpose of the position is to perform Tumbler/Dryer Operator duties on the clean side. This position is located at the VA Medical Center in Madison, WI.

Requirements:

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Must have the ability to perform the duties of the LAUNDRY MACHINE OPERATOR without more than normal supervision. Related experience includes, operation of washers and dryers, washes soiled linens and unloads washer and sort's laundry. Your experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS:

Physical Requirements: The incumbent must be able to push loaded slings weighing 200 pounds, push linen carts weighing over 500 pounds routinely, and lift bundles of linen weighing over 50 pounds. The employee must have stamina and strength to perform moderate physical tasks over a long period of time. The position requires frequent walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, and muscular effort when operating tumblers/dryers.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The Laundry Machine Operator works in an area that is noisy, damp as the result of steam, and will experience heat from machinery. May be exposed to airborne lint, constantly standing on concrete floors, repetitive hand and foot movements. The employee's work encompasses operating equipment with moving parts. The incumbent will be required to wear protective clothing when working on the soiled sm1ing line due to the presence of potentially contaminated linen.
The employee's work area is indoors, in a well-lighted structure that is climate controlled.

Applicants who appear to meet the screen out element are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated from consideration. The potential eligibles are rated against the remainder of the job elements. While a specific length of training and experience is not required, your responses to the questionnaire must be supported by detailed descriptions of your experience on your resume.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
