This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.About the Position: Serves as the Geologist Lead under Branch Chief of the Geotechnical Branch of Engineering Division with responsibilities of coordinating and leading a team of geologists, engineers, and technicians.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Preparing geological engineering studies, design reports, and plans for flood risk reduction works, navigation structures, and coastal restoration projects 2) Resolving geological problems, provide advice, develop procedures, and perform advanced work relating to difficult design efforts 3) Designing and analyzing Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System projects and other major hydraulic structures AND 4) Reviewing and providing direction on preliminary and final plans developed by other geologists. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
