Description:

The position is located in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment(OASD(S)). The ASD(S) serves as the principal staff assistant and advisor to the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, Deputy Secretary of Defense, and Secretary of Defense on all matters relating to logistics, materiel readiness, and product support.

You may qualify at the NH-3 (GS12/13 equivalent) level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent) grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to.
Reviewing legislative materials, laws, codes, court procedures, precedents, legal practices, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, government organization and functions, and/or the democratic political process to manage legislative efforts for acquisition and procurement activities; Applying knowledge of federal/Department of Defense planning, programming, budget and execution process as it relates to the legislative process to advise senior personnel across a sustainment portfolio; Analyzing complex legislation to determine impacts on acquisition and life cycle sustainment activities; and Leading a diverse working group of military, civilian, and/or contractors to manage a wide range of acquisition and sustainment issues.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
