Compensation: Salary range of $50K-$60K

The Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for leading the financial operations of the company, which includes customer invoicing and billing-related support, posting vendor payments, managing receivables and payables, creating and monitoring budgets for the company and its departments, overseeing monthly and year-end closings, and maintaining financial performance reports. Additionally, the role entails ensuring a smooth service delivery-to-cash process, sourcing and managing dependable vendors, and maintaining profitability. The Senior Bookkeeper will also assist the CEO with various tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Billing and Receivables : Responsible for consistently and regularly invoicing clients, looking for ways to improve the overall efficiency and services-to-cash cycle. Managing billable expenses and minimizing company disbursements and outlays. Tightly managing accounts receivable and minimizing days-to-pay through consistent and sustained collections efforts across all areas of the business (services, registered agent, etc.).
  • Vendor and Payables Management : Responsible for sourcing and onboarding new vendors; and maintaining and improving existing vendor relationships. Prioritizing payables and keeping vendor costs in check. Working with payroll and managing 1099s, ensuring timely distribution. Providing regular disbursement reports to the CEO tracking historical spending and projected spending, looking for ways to minimize vendor costs and disbursements, and working with the Practice Area Managers to manage Specialist costs.
  • Monthly and Year-End Closing : Reconcile and close accounts and financial records monthly. Make necessary journal entries and accounting adjustments. Update deferred revenue, prepaid, amortization and depreciation, and other related schedules. Manage year-end tasks to close the books promptly and complete tax preparations.
  • Financial Performance Reports : Maintains and provides financial performance reports to the CEO and Practice Managers. Assists CEO with financial analysis of business operations, costs, pricing, budget, projections, and P&L.

Education: BS/MS degree in finance, accounting, or related field

Non-Compete: Must be able to perform duties without restrictions or challenges from enforceable non-compete agreements held by the employee and prior employers within 30 days of employment.

Minimum Experience : 3+ years of experience in financial operations in a small business environment (services business preferred)

Preferred Experience (includes minimum) :

  • Legal services background
  • Accounting experience of at least 3 years.
  • Sound administrative skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Skill in examining and analyzing financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of client and client's client matters.
  • Must be flexible to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities; able to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed matters and tasks.
