Description:

This position is part of the Office of Management, Department of Energy. As an Executive Correspondence Management Analyst, you will proofread and edit correspondence and documents for the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and Under Secretaries of Energy, assuring materials are accurate, grammatically correct, follow appropriate formats, and promote clear Government communication that the public can understand and use.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

For GS-11: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following:

Assisting with drafting, reviewing and editing documents and correspondences ensuring content is accurate, grammatically correct and handled in a timely manner. Prioritizing deadlines to deliver timely responses that require review, approval or signature. Working within an electronic web-based document management system to assist with executive correspondence management.


OR
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M.; the education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. For this position, this is defined as a degree in English, Creative Writing, or a similarly related major.

OR

Combination of education and experience.

For GS-12: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 3 out of 4 from the following:

Reviewing and editing correspondences or documents, to ensure correct grammar as well as spelling, punctuation, and clarity of writing. Managing or tracking the status of all documents to ensure timeliness during drafting, rewriting, and clearance process to include review and approval. Preparing correspondence for leadership to review, approve, and obtain the required signatures. Working within an electronic web-based document management system. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.

CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must (1) meet all of the requirements as described in this section; and 2) be rated "well-qualified", which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
