Description:
This is a NAF position with 61st Force Support Squadron, located at Outdoor Recreation on Fort MacArthur Military Reserve Base, San Pedro, California. This position is considered Flexible and is guaranteed 0 hours, but has the potential to work up to 40 hours per week. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. As a flexible employee, you are not eligible for leave or benefits. Hourly pay will be set depending on experience.Requirements:

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have or be able to obtain a nationally recognized lifeguarding certification within 30 days of employment to include the ability to swim 300 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, tread water for 2 minutes using legs only, to retrieve a 10 lb. Dive brick from 10 feet deep, surface and swim 20 yards with weight using legs only and exit the pool without using a ladder within 100 seconds. Must have working knowledge of equipment such as: First aid kits, buoys, rings, shepherd's hooks, and backboards. Experience which provides a practical knowledge of instructional and developmental teaching methods, swimming activities is highly desired. Knowledge of pool rules, procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Must successfully complete local and national agency checks as well as state and national criminal background checks.
