Responsibilities
  • Performs calibrations for all measurement & test equipment in the calibration system and performs testing to evaluate new equipment/processes using written instructions and pre-established guidelines.
  • Performs basic set-up, maintenance, and solving on calibrated M&TE, tooling, and equipment.
  • Provides technical support for developing new test methods for calibration or process validation studies as part of new product development, design transfer, cost reduction, and safety programs.
  • Maintains existing calibration scheduling, recall, and record systems (electronic & hard copy).
  • Completes and reviews documentation in accordance with established procedures and quality system requirements (CGMP, ISO).
  • Issues reports and documentation in accordance with established procedures on a variety of quality system programs related to QSR (CGMP) and ISO requirements.
  • May have to work some off-hours shifts. Limited travel may be required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Ability to understand and follow FDA regulations, ISO requirements, and BD Quality Systems.


Minimum Educational Experience:
  • HS Diploma/ GED PLUS min 1 yr of college level study in sciences or engineering, comparable technical training or industrial lab experience


Basic Qualifications:
  • Ability to use and understand measurement & test equipment.
  • Well-developed organizational skills required to complete scheduled calibrations on time.
  • Basic technical writing skills and be able to maintain a lab notebook.
  • Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Math skills up to basic algebra and geometry.
  • Communication and social skills to maintain positive working relationships in a team environment.
  • Flexible in regards to work and shift assignments.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:
  • ASQ CCT, CQT or CMI certification
  • Basic statistics or physics
  • Experience with data acquisition systems
  • Experience with word and excel
  • previous experience in medical device or pharmaceutical industry


Training Requirements:

On-the-Job, SOP's required for position and CGMP.

Physical Demands: (if applicable)

Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at machines or work tables or bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 40 lbs). May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes. Occasional exposure to potential for minor injury or other health hazard requiring some precaution.

Work Environment: (if applicable)

Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.).
