Northrop Grumman is seeking a Calibration Tech 4 for our location in Plymouth, MN . This role will be located within our Armament System's Business Unit. Armament Systems specializes in the development and production of Ammunition, Guns and Precision Guidance Ordinance.

Position Summary:

Calibration of electronic test measuring equipment and signal generating equipment to conform to established standards. Tests, calibrates, adjusts, and maintains electromechanical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, hydro mechanical, and pressure-type measuring and indicating instruments. Sets up calibration sequences, methods, and procedures according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and requirements. Disassembles, cleans, repairs, and replaces defective parts of test equipment such as pressure gauges and tension meters. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Calibrate, adjust, maintain, repair, verify and certify a wide variety of electronic/mechanical instrumentation/equipment using known standards to assure performance and reliability to drawings/specifications. These include: Oscilloscopes, multimeters, VXI/PXI cards, current sources, power sup plies, waveform generators, solder pots, capacitance, LCR and meg-ohm meters, accelerometers, data loggers, oxygen analyzers, shakers, and chart recorders, soldering irons, conductive foot/wrist strap testers. Vibration systems, hardness testers, torque/force gauges, temperature/humidity indicators. pressure transducers, pressure/vacuum gauges, ovens, scales, image dimension systems, weights, calipers, micrometers, height stands and height indicators.
  • Maintain the operation and functionality of the IndySoft calibration re-call system.
  • Maintain and create calibration procedures and records to meet ISO and ANSI requirements and assist engineers to meet contract requirements.
  • Determine transfer standard instrumentation & accessory needs.
  • Develop calibration software to automate instrumentation for quicker turnaround.
  • Conduct routine tests, analyze data and document results. Troubleshoot and recommend resolution of basic laboratory and test-related problems.
  • Provide information and clarification to customers on metrology processes.
  • Construct fixtures and cabling to aid development. (Fluke Metcal, National Instruments & Hp 9000 software).
  • Responsible for shipment, receipt, invoicing/charges of outsourced calibrations.
  • Maintain lab practices/operations in compliance with standards & certifications.
  • Issue and follow up on out of tolerance reports.
  • Oversee Electrostatic Discharge Control (ESD) plans and certification / verification of ESD functionality of the Plymouth facility
  • Lead internal, DCMA, DCAA & AS9100/ISO and customer audits and corrective actions for calibration lab.
  • Support Plymouth, TPG, ABL and satellite facilities.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Associated Technical Degree, Certification, or Diploma.
  • At least 5 years electro/mechanical calibration experience in aerospace industry or similar highly regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO-9100 and ISO-17025.
  • Knowledge of basic electronics including electrical systems and wiring specifications and requirements to fabricate and/or install components.
  • Strong PC skills including knowledge of MS Word, Excel and databases.
  • Experienced in ladder diagrams, schematics, relay logic and motor control wiring.
  • Skilled in practical math, algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
  • Mechanical ability, manual dexterity, and hand/eye coordination required to perform various projects, per drawings, sketches, and verbal or written instructions.
  • Understanding of basic statistics.
  • Technical writing ability.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 8 years electro/mechanical calibration experience in aerospace or similar highly regulated environment.
  • Formal metrology training
  • Experience using IndySoft
  • Experience with SureCal
  • Experience with MetCal
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician


Salary Range: $71,400.00 - $119,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
