As a Electrical Engineer you will be responsible to develop purchased-finished power electronics components for Electrification Energy Solutions Division

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work with machine systems application teams to establish requirements, architecture, and electrical requirements for power electronics components / systems.
  • Evaluate potential solutions and develop final component selections
  • Support NTI & NPI programs: communication with NTI/NPI leads; prepare and present design and gateway reviews.
  • Collaboration with CAT China team for electrical design, verification & validation plans, functional evaluation.
  • Play an active role in supplier evaluation, selection, and development– some limited travel will be required.
  • Execute and support electrical commissioning and testing on purchased components.
  • Support APQP activities on purchased components in collaboration with suppliers.
  • Document and resolve field issues.
  • Procurement, inventory management, and shipment of components
  • Identify and work with other Caterpillar Subject Matter Experts on aspects of the design in which team does not have expertise to complete on their own.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advances and market trends in e-powertrain DC converters and inverters

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Electrical Engineering degree
  • Minimum 6 years previous product development experience (design / NPI)
  • Power Electronics design and development experience
  • Excellent understanding of electrical systems

Required Skills:

  • Experience with electric drive systems and/or components
  • Excellent analytical skills; experience with circuit and system simulation and analysis tools
  • Experience with quality tools including FMEA, APQP & PPAP
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) Issue resolution process
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in inverters and motor drives for electric powertrain development
  • Experience in supplier evaluation and development
