Description:

The TAB/Cx Specialist works on a variety of energy efficiency projects focused on identifying and correcting inefficiencies in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), General Services Administration (GSA) utility water, chiller plant, and the Building Automation System (BAS). This includes Air Flow Stations (AFS) calibration, pneumatic or Direct Digital Control (DDC), Variable Air Volume (VAV) calibration, and major systems.

Requirements:

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-0802-12.

For this position, specialized experience is at least one year of experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, commissioning systems for major commercial buildings including air/water balance, indoor air quality testing, equipment start-up and quality assurance testing.

Other Relevant Eligibility Criteria:

Must have completed a rigorous engineering program of study, consistent with OPM requirements. The employee is required to work on ladders, scaffolds and platforms. The employee must be able to work in cramped locations. The employee must be able to climb, stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend and stoop. Must be able to distinguish among shades of the same color. Must hold a TAB certification from an accredited agency such as NEBB, AABC or TABB.

Engineering – Knowledge of the engineering discipline, as applied to the National Gallery of Art Facilities Management – Skill in maintaining, and improving multiple projects within a facility at one time. Energy Efficiency – Ability to assess current systems and develop energy efficient recommendations. Technical Documentation – Ability to write, organize and Maintain TAB and Cx documentation.

Physical Requirements: The work relating to event activities can be physically demanding such as standing for long periods of time and considerable overtime may be required during peak periods. Also, two or three evening events may fall within the same week which requires a flexible work routine.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
