About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Barber~ without more than normal supervision. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen Out Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires continuous use of both arms and hands and frequent standing, reaching, and light lifting.Dexterity is required to lock the barbering swivel chair, adjust the chair height to the appropriate cutting level, and regulate the swivel movements of the chair throughout the barbering processes. Objects handled such as barbering instruments, tools and appliances seldom weigh more than five (5) pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed inside the Barbershop, which is properly heated, lighted, and ventilated. Duties expose incumbent to the possibility of electric shock. Exposed to hair clippings, and communicable diseases of the patrons. Required to wear a smock, wash hands thoroughly and frequently with soap and water, sanitize barbering tools, and maintain working area in accordance with established procedures.
