This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB MRTFB to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as an operator in charge of gas or oil fired boiler plants with shift responsibility on a regular recurring basis .

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Utility Systems Operator ~ without more than normal supervision. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Occasionally works in awkward and cramped positions when making minor repairs. Frequent standing, walking and climbing is required when making prescribed checks of all operating plants. Requires heavy lifting of over 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Subject to abnormal heat when operating boiler plants. Subject to abnormal cold and bad weather when making prescribed checks in winter. Danger of boiler explosions, high noise levels, toxic fuel and chemical fumes, steam burns and scalding water. May work in dirty, inadequately lighted and ventilated spaces.
