This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for CertainPersonnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Basic Education Requirement for Operations Research Analyst:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying broad area of classical and modern advanced actuarial science, operations research, mathematics and statistics; industrial engineering, planning, coordinating, and executing studies of marked difficulty and responsibility, applying modeling techniques and procedures; designing sample surveys and modifying established methods; AND developing mathematical algorithms, writing statistical computer programs, designing and performing computer simulations.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
