Description:

This position is in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Sex Off ender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART). This incumbent serves as a Policy Advisor

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifying experience for the GS-14 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-13 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Examples of Specialized Experience include:
1) providing expert analysis and advice on complex SORNA policy issues;
2) participating in the development and implementation of national programs and policies regarding the SORNA, sex offender management, and accountability;
3) providing guidance and recommendations for improving national SORNA programs, identifying weaknesses, expanding and upgrading the quality of existing programs, and formulating new programs in needed areas; and
4) performing complex analyses on sexual offending issues for states or tribes.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications as described above will be further evaluated based upon the following technical qualifications:

1) Ability to analyze current or projected sex offender registration and notification programs;
2) Ability to provide program management advice and assistance on sex offender registration and notification;
3) Ability to provide advice and guidance on sex offender registration and notification issues for states and tribes;
4) Knowledge of the principles and techniques of sex offender registration, notification and other supervision/monitoring programs of this populations of offenders.
