The position is located in the Office of Museum Services (OMS). As the Associate Deputy Director (ADD) of (OMS), the incumbent oversees the largest federal grant program devoted specifically to funding museums. The position requires the performance of a variety of programmatic and administrative assignments.

In order to minimally qualify at the GS-15 grade level, applicants must meet the below specialized experience requirements:
GS-15 : To be eligible at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) knowledge of and experience with various organizations (e.g., museum service and/or cultural heritage organizations) to develop and implement new grant programs that support the advancement of special initiatives; (2) knowledge and/or experience of the grants management process (e.g., federal, state, non-profit, etc.) to improve the performance of the agency's grant-making functions (3) ability to provide leadership, direction, and oversight to a team of professional and administrative staff.


NOTE:
1. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
