Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized fire department or brigade; Responding to hazardous materials incidents; AND Responding to emergencies with illness and injuries by providing basic life support. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT continued: Occasional Travel required (not more than 5%). Incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone at their residence to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations. Employees hired for the first time ("originally hired") into GS-0081 positions must not exceed the established Maximum Entry Age (MEA) at time of appointment. The MEA for Firefighters (FFs) is 37. An employee originally hired into a covered FF position must be hired by the last day of the month he/she reaches 37 unless a waiver from Department of Army is approved prior to appointment. Management may select at any of the grade levels announced. This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to the target grade of the position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management.
