This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.About the Position: Serves as a 2nd Assistant Engineer on a Class I diesel/electric powered pipeline dredge (18" discharge and over). The incumbent will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all engine room.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) 2nd Assistant Engineer Pipeline Dredge Class I ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Second Assistant Engineer Pipeline Dredge Class 1 tasks such as, handling controls, operations, and maintenance of engine room machinery and equipment, controlling propelling engines on signal, and advise appropriate personnel on malfunctions of work equipment and/or procedures. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen Out Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Incumbent performs work from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms and where the parts, equipment, or systems are in hard-to-reach places. Work requires the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in a tiring and uncomfortable position. Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside subjecting employee to vary climatic conditions, abnormal noises, temperature, danger of burns, irritation from grease and oils, bruises, strains, dangers involved in attending moving machinery, possible drowning from falling overboard, electrical shock, falls on slippery decks or steep stairways, and crankcase explosion.
