Description:

The purpose is to serve as the Supervisory Pharmacist for the Inpatient Section by managing and providing direct clinical pharmacy services. Incumbent is responsible for management and administration of personnel policies and procedures, providing ongoing analysis to develop programs commensurate with the highest quality of care, and to direct and manage programs and activities of the Inpatient Pharmacy in a manner that ensures mission, vision, and values of the hospital.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (external link) (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure: Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Experience: Applicant's qualifications background must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary to perform the work of the position. Pharmacy work requires knowledge of the use, clinical effects, and composition of medications, including their chemical, biological, and physical properties. Qualifying professional pharmacy experience may involve, but is not limited to:
Dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and providing information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects; Evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations; Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility's pharmacy program; Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens; Establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications; Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries; and/or Maintaining all medication records required by law. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates; evaluate work performance of subordinates; interview candidates for positions in the unit; hear and resolve complaints from employees; find ways to improve production or increase the quality of work directed; develop performance standards.

MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant must be able to distinguish basic colors.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGERIAL ABILITIES: Candidates must have demonstrated in their work experience or training that they possess, or have the potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision, as listed under the appropriate category below:
Ability to motivate, train and work effectively with subordinates who have a variety of background and training. Ability to accomplish the quality and quantity of work expected with set limits of cost and time. Ability to plan own work and carry out assignments effectively. Ability to communicate with others effectively, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions related to work. Ability to understand and further manage goals as these affect day-to-day work operations. Ability to develop improvements in or design new work methods and procedures. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
