Description:

The Servicing Human Resource Office (SHRO) is a shared resources organization and provides Human Resources (HR) advisory and program services to parks and offices that are geographically dispersed within the region or office. The incumbent of this position provides administrative and clerical support for human resources management functions. This position may be filled at the GS-04 or GS-05 level.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.

For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.

To qualify for this position at the GS-4 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. Examples of general experience include but are not limited to maintaining a filing system both electronic and hard copy, using computers to develop correspondence, memos, forms, and other standardized documents, and preparing reports. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least two years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field of study for which high school graduation or the equivalent was a prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university. (One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (Must provide copies of transcripts). You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, I have 6 months of general experience (50% of the experience requirements for this position and grade level) combined with one year of education as outlined above (50% of the education required to qualify). (Must provide copies of transcripts) Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.

To qualify for this position at the GS-5 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is experience utilizing computers skills to navigate through computer software systems such as personnel or payroll processing systems; maintaining a filing system electronically; developing correspondence, memos, forms and other personnel documents; preparing reports utilizing various software systems such as Excel, WORD, databases and query systems, etc.; providing administrative support services to customers such as the public, employees, supervisors, managers, etc.; and providing new employee orientation. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree in any course of study. (Must provide copies of transcripts).

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, I have 6 months of specialized experience (50% of the experience requirements for this position and grade level) combined with three years of education as outlined above (50% of the education required to qualify). Please note: only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. (Must provide copies of transcripts) Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
