About the Position: This position is located within the Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Liberty, NC. Incumbent will serve as a Biostatistician Investigator responsible for planning and conducting statistical methods to evaluate, design and analyze a variety of research investigations within the medical treatment facility (MTF) and external entities.This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Basic Requirement for Statistician:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing unique cohorts for analyses using software such as standard query language (SQL), statistical application system (SAS), R, or Stata; utilizing statistical analyses to draw conclusions or predications based on data summaries; setting up, testing, evaluating, adapting or modifying data quality metrics in order to further medical applications within a health care system; and assisting staff and students in completing professional education program requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Preferred, but not required: PhD or Doctoral degree in Mathematics or Statistics.
