Description:

This position is a Fish and Wildlife Administrator, GS- 0480-15, working in Bailey's Crossroads, VA, for the Assistant Director - Fish and Aquatic Conservation.

Requirements:

In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification.

Basic Requirement:
Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Four years of experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of one or more of the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, or related disciplines equivalent to that which would have been acquired through completion of a 4-year course of study as described in (1). OR Combination of education and experience that includes courses equivalent to a major, or at least 30 semester hours in courses, as shown in (1) above PLUS appropriate experience or additional education. This combination of education and experience is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field.
Minimum Qualification [GS-15]
One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following duties: (1) managing a natural resource program (e.g., monitoring progress, evaluating effectiveness, recommending program changes and modifications, providing technical expertise on natural resource issues, prioritizing and allocating funds among projects).; (2) providing subject matter expertise to senior leadership concerning scientific, political, and economic natural resource issues; (3) analyzing complex natural resource conservation concepts or issues and providing recommendations and solutions for senior-level officials; (4) collaborating with groups from varying backgrounds and with varying interests to formulate solutions to natural resource issues, and implement new and/or improved programs or processes; (5) performing a full range of supervisory/managerial duties and responsibilities over subordinate supervisors and staff.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
