THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION

DUTY LOCATION: 103d Maintenance Squadron (103d MXS), East Granby, CT

AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION:

Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the CTANG.
Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the CTANG.
Area 3: Individuals eligible for membership in the CTANG. Membership must be satisfied within four (4) months of selection.

Requirements:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 6, 12 or 18 months of specialized experience in the following:

WG-05 REQUIRES 6 MONTHS:
Experience using common hand tools in making repetitive mechanical repairs under close supervision. Experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade. WG-08 REQUIRES 12 MONTHS: Experience or training removing and installing components and accessories with detailed guidance. Experience in following detailed instructions in making minor repairs and modifications to aircraft engines, subassemblies and components. WG-10 REQUIRES 18 MONTHS: Experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of mechanical, hydromechanics, electrical, electronic, and pneudraulic principles and systems, that apply to turboprop engines and propellers. Skill in the interpretation and use of technical orders and manuals, manufacturers' specifications, factory engineering bulletins, flow charts/wiring diagrams and other related technical guidance. Skill in troubleshooting, diagnosing defects, certifying, conducting bench and operational checks, disassembly, repairing, modifying, testing, cleaning, assembly and installation of turboprop engine and propeller systems, sub-systems and components such the integrated synchrophasing system, reduction gear box, torque meter assembly, fuel scheduling system and electrical components and control assemblies. Skill in the use of test equipment such as computer borescopes, fuel gauges, air gauges, and alignment fixtures; special tools and precision measuring equipment; high pressure hydraulic test equipment; dynamic propeller balancing equipment; and engine vibration analyzers. Skill in operating and maintaining the engine test/trim automated system (ETTAS) on the engine test cell to evaluate, identify and correct propeller and engine components causing vibration or impending failure.


COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of AFSC. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is covered by the medical monitoring program. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examination prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
