About the Position: United States Army Engineer District, Huntington, Regional Rivers Repair Fleet, Light Capacity Fleet Unit, duty location Old Hickory, TN. This position serves as Marine Machinery Mechanic performing a wide variety of maintenance and repair activities.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Marine Machinery Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Perform a variety of installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling diesel and gasoline internal combustion marine engines and other related equipment aboard floating plants. Successfully used power tools such as lifts, sling chains and/or rock hooks on a daily basis.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic) Trouble Shooting Physical Effort: Required to stand, walk, and climb most of the time in performing assigned duties. Frequently reaches, bends, pulls, pushes, and lifts in order to move/install/repair heavy machinery equipment. Lifts objects up to 100 pounds with assistance. Working Conditions: Works in inclement weather conditions and exposed to open river conditions when working on marine floating plant equipment and is subject to dangers such as wet and/or slippery surfaces, snagged ropes and cables, and drowning. Works in confined/enclosed areas such as spaces between bulkheads and decks and the proximity of machinery. Conditions are subject to exhausts, fumes, noises, and cramped/awkward/uncomfortable positions. Works around moving/rotating/reciprocating machinery where there is danger of injury due to falls, cuts, bruises, and burns. Various protective devices such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves and hard hats are used.
