THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION

DUTY LOCATION: Recruiting & Retention (R&R), Middletown, CT

AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION:

Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Army National Guard.
Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the Connecticut Army National Guard.

Requirements:

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training in administrative, professional, investigative and/or technical work. Experience evaluating information and/or utilizing analytical skills to disseminate effective communication. Experience using computers and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 24 months of specialized experience in the following:
Experience, education, or training involving knowledge of writing, communication principles, methods and techniques that relate to the public affairs of an agency. Experience in applying and adapting knowledge of strictly controlled situations of an agency. Experience writing articles on routine events of noncontroversial subjects. Experience responding timely and appropriately to requests for information concerning agency programs and services. Experience participating in meetings with specialized groups to listen to and understand feedback on agency programs that are of particular interest to public.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the principles, methods, practices and techniques of written and oral communications that allows the employee to apply principles and use engage the battalion's audiences via social media platforms using sound Army Public Affairs practices. Skill in making oral presentations to various internal and external groups to explain the battalion's use of social media platforms to disseminate the Army's themes and messages. Skill in establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with a variety of USAREC staff agencies, the USAREC public affairs community, members of the press, and a wide spectrum of public and private groups who are engaged on social media platforms. Skill in presenting written ideas through publications, position papers, correspondence, news releases, and a variety of other media. Ability to convey information clearly, completely and accurately. Ability to analyze and evaluate a wide variety of input from the brigade, U.S. Army Recruiting Command, and the Army Marketing and Research Group to develop appropriate recommendations and decisions to achieve information objectives.
COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training.

MILITARY GRADE (Prior to Application): Enlisted: E-5 through E-6
UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT: Any unit within state

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Training at the National Guard Professional Education Center (NGPEC) is a mandatory condition of employment, subject to availability of resources. NGB prescribed courses at NGPEC must be completed within 6 months of assignment to this position. Failure to complete course(s) may result in reassignment or termination of full-time employment unless extenuating circumstances preclude course attendance.
