About the Position: Serve as the Directorate's advisor providing administrative and clerical support using a variety of processes and methods.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-07 Level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes

(1) Experience using computer software to create correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, or presentations;
(2) Experience retrieving, updating, and storing electronic and non-electronic data files; and
(3) Experience interpreting and applying administrative regulations, policies, or procedures.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

OR

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as any major field of study.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

GS-08 Level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes

(1) Experience utilizing automated processes and procedures to enter time and attendance records or purchase requests;
(2) Experience utilizing automation applications, databases, and software packages to produce reports, spreadsheets, graphics, and electronic communications;
(3) Experience reviewing and editing documents for grammar and punctuation to ensure accuracy and completion; and
(4) Experience monitoring calendars, appointments, and facilities for several directorates or divisions

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as any major field of study.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

GS-09 Level:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes

(1) Experience utilizing automated processes and procedures to create time and attendance records, purchase requests, or personnel actions;
(2) Experience advising on office processes and procedures;
(3) Experience maintaining an automated suspense tracking system or status log; and
(4) Experience composing or reviewing correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, or presentations to ensure accuracy and completion.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: any major field of study.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement:
GS-07: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within in the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

GS-08: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within in the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

GS-09: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within in the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
