This position is a Industrial Hygienist, GS- 0690-11/12/13 working for the R10-SAFE Safety Operations.

Requirements:

Only experience and education obtained by 04/25/2024 will be considered.

In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification.

Basic Education Requirement
A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science. A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene. Certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH). Minimum Qualification [GS-11] One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-09 in the Federal service. Experience must include: Serving as an Industrial Hygienist and subject matter expert assisting with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, methods and practices focused on providing a safe working environment; assist with auditing program activities designed to identify, evaluate and mitigate hazards associated with complex work operations and diverse environmental conditions; assist with conducting audit reviews; prepares, consolidates, reviews, and complete audit reports. OR Three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to the position. OR A combination of specialized experience and graduate-level education as described in A and B above that, when combined, equals 100% of the qualification requirement. (To compute, first, determine your experience as a percentage of the experience required; then determine your graduate education as a percentage of the education required. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100%.) Minimum Qualification [GS-12] One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience may include: Serving as an Industrial Hygienist and subject matter expert with responsibility for the development and implementation of policies, procedures, methods and practices focused on providing a safe working environment; Managing the Industrial Hygienist program development and implementation including audit program activities designed to identify, evaluate and mitigate hazards associated with complex work operations and diverse environmental conditions; Performs program evaluation inspections for rehabilitated and construction projects to ensure conformance with Federal, State and local requirements. Minimum Qualification [GS-13] One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: Serving as an Industrial Hygienist and subject matter expert with responsibility for the development and implementation of policies, procedures, methods and practices focused on providing a safe working environment; Managing the Industrial Hygienist program development and implementation including audit program activities designed to identify, evaluate and mitigate hazards associated with complex work operations and diverse environmental conditions; Independently conducts audits; prepares, consolidates, reviews, and completes audit reports; performing program evaluation inspections for rehabilitated and construction projects to ensure conformance with Federal, State and local requirements; conducting lead-based paint surveys, and assists emergency management on Fire drills and other evacuation procedures, caused by natural/ not-natural disaster(s).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time In Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet both eligibility and qualification requirements for the position of interest by the closing date of the JOA. Specifically,
i. Area of Consideration.
ii. Time-in-grade (TIG) requirements as specified in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
iii. Time after competitive appointment as specified in 5 CFR 330.502.
iv. Qualification requirements outlined in OPM's Qualifications Standards for General Schedule Positions or for Federal Wage System (FWS), wage grade positions, applicants are evaluated using the OPM Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations and the job element examining method
Your SF-50 will be used to confirm you meet all requirements

Note: You MUST submit ALL SF-50s and performance information for each period of temporary/term employment that qualifies for LMWFA. Performance documentation can be obtained by contacting the supervisors for the positions you served in during your 24 months. If they did not complete performance appraisals ask them to provide a statement of performance for each period of service. The statement must specify the dates for each employment period and your level of performance (dates should match the dates on the SF-50s).
