Description:

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Coast Guard District Eight, MSU Morgan City, in Morgan City, LA.

Requirements:

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, or abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include:

  • Providing technical expertise and training to new inspectors, providing input to program planning, and assisting on special more complex projects (ex.- inspections of foreign flagged vessels under the Port State Control program).
  • Developing strategies to train staff through both written and oral examinations.
  • Conducting and/or serving as a lead inspector on marine inspections for a variety of vessels (i.e., passenger, commercial, freight, towing vessels determining compliance with US and International laws).
  • Preparing, drafting and delivering briefings, technical analyses and Marine Inspector qualification presentations.
  • Providing recommendations to supervisors, sector commanders and district level command staffs pertaining to ongoing inspections and examinations.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
