This position is located at the National Transportation Safety Board, Office of Research and Engineering's Safety Research Division. The incumbent serves as a senior Transportation Specialist performing a variety of complex tasks that involve transportation accident investigation data and the use of advanced research, statistical analysis, and data science principles, methods, and techniques.Requirements:
GS-14: You MUST have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector). Specialized experience is defined as: Experience conducting quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research, applying descriptive, correlational, or experimental study designs, and using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to derive insights from transportation accident, injury, and other safety data. Experience conducting specialized data queries, visualizations, and statistical analyses using Structured Query Language (SQL) and Python, R, or SAS. Experience writing and publishing or peer reviewing descriptive studies (e.g., surveys, qualitative evaluations, systematic literature reviews), observational studies (e.g., case-control and cross-sectional studies), or meta-analyses. Experience using oral and written communication skills to clearly communicate research study results and safety recommendations in plain language to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
